"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans..."
James 1:27 (NIV)
In March of 1998, we got a phone call that there was a baby girl that needed a family. She was in the foster care program and was considered a hard to place child. Luckily for her (and for us), she had a praying foster mother. This woman prayed that she would find this baby a family and she went to the Department of Children and Families and found our family's file. Our file had been untouched in the office for almost a year, waiting for this foster mom to find it. You may understand now why foster families mean so much to us. Why we believe that these families are doing the work of the Father. It has been over 18 years since we got that first phone call that would forever change us. Eighteen years that our daughter did not have to live in the foster care system. On average a foster child will go to 6 different foster homes...our daughter didn't do that because she had a praying foster mother. Not all foster homes have Godly parents, but I know that we as the body of Christ can do something about that. How? By ministering to them, by encouraging them and by loving on them while striving to meet their very real needs. Please consider how you might be able to help make this ministry all that God wants it to be. |
